Software Working Group
Until June 2023
The Software Working Group (SWG) worked on all aspects of the EIC software, with an initial focus on physics and detector simulations to support the ongoing development of the science program and detectors for the EIC. The work plan was based on the Expression of Interest for Software, which received input from the wider EIC community.
The SWG incorporated Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the very beginning in order to systematically leverage on it during all phases of the project and in all aspects of data processing, from detector readout and control to analysis. To this purpose, an AI Working Group (AIWG) was created within the SWG, serving as an entry point to AI applications, and organizing workshops, tutorials, and Kaggle-like challenges.
The SWG organized regular online and in-person meetings and tutorials. The SWG conveners:
